Thoughts on the future of AI, business, and society

    Challenges for a new generation

The challenges that the next generation will face are daunting. And I’m not even talking about climate change, I’m talking about the progressive loss of the value of work, increasing automation through artificial intelligence, and the lack of basic training in resilience and responsibility of each individual. The value of work has changed over and…

    Smart Devices and Human Interconnectivity

I have recently attended the SwissInnovationForum in Basel. A wonderful, very inspiring experience with great speakers. The talk by Qualcomm SVP Susie Armstrong influenced today’s thoughts. Ms. Armstrong was the first to invent a method to connect a phone to the internet. She holds many patents in mobile networking technology. On stage, she made a…

  • A contrarian view on the current danger of AI

AI does not endanger the world. Yet. Why am I not concerned about the end of the world that AI will lead to, as some people predict in the media? Because the world is not nearly digital enough (yet) for renegade AGI to do much damage. For one part this is because of prudence on…

In a nutshell…

I am an expert on using Data Science and AI in business applications and have worked in 10 countries across the globe, among these the USA, Canada, the UK, Switzerland and Germany. I achieved a “Dr. of Science” from ETH Zurich in theoretical physics and hold a “Master of Advanced Studies in Mathematics” from Cambridge University with Distinction (top 10%), considered “the hardest maths course in the world” at the time.

I achieved the top score (100%) in Group Theory that year and was awarded Wolfson’s Dr-Arthur-Jennings prize for this achievement. I finished high school in the top 3 in my year and achieved full grade in physics, which was honored by the German Physical Society. During my career as a scientist, I had the pleasure to meet, discuss and/or work with Stephen Hawking, Andrew Strominger, and Juan Maldacena who are among the greatest physicists of our time and published 11 articles in highly regarded journals.

I got multiple scholarships and awards (GAES/DAAD, Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, CERN Grants, …) for my academic achievements and financed myself solely through these in my 20s. I changed my career midway through my 30s to become a business and strategy consultant with a strong focus on AI, machine learning, and data science, straddling the business and the technical aspects of this technology.

Today I support and inform clients about the impact of AI on the business world in a wide array of topics and challenges. In my spare time I currently organize a real estate project in Switzerland (inquiries encouraged), hike the mountains there, read relentlessly, study Japanese or write opinion and thought articles about AI and the future of society and business.
